About Us

Tartu Credit Union is an advanced cooperative financial institution that aims at providing financial services to its clients. We are a quickly, yet rationally developing monetary institution that offers its clients a number of services that are affordable, of high quality and convenient: depositing, insurance mediation, leasing, loaning and financial consultation. The owners of the Credit Union are our clients who determine the course of action of the Credit Union and, having used the services, have the right to receive a proportional share of the profits to be divided.

Vision

Tartu Credit Union will develop into a cooperative bank and will create a general innovative and progressive system of people’s banks in Estonia, thus enabling the people to be financially independent.

Mission

Our mission is to offer our members the best selection of affordable and high quality financial services.

Logo

The logo of the Credit Union reflects the ideas of vitality and cooperation. Under the round shapes that stand for good thoughts which are then turned into reality, there is a healthy and cheerful person who is using the opportunities that social capital has to offer in order to meet their financial needs in the most efficient way.

On the other hand, however, the logo might remind of Estonian national symbol – the cornflower –, thus also standing for our tight connection to Estonia.

From the past to the present

Tartu Credit Union is the successor of Estonian Savings and Loan Union that was founded in Tartu in 1902 by Professor Jaan Tõnisson, who afterwards became the Head of State of Estonia. The work of the Credit Union was re-established in 2006. In legal terms, the Credit Union is a commercial association.

The tactical goal of the Credit Union is to deposit the funds of its members who have savings and issue those funds as loans to members who should need it. Our activity aims at the well-being of our members. As a result, the funds are available to all members in order to satisfy their financial needs more efficiently. Thereby increases each member’s capacity to invest and consume.

Tartu Credit Union is a member of the Estonian Union of Credit Cooperatives and the Estonian Co-operative Association. We develop cooperation with both domestic and international cooperatives as well as with other companies.
